How to get there
Here is a List of airlines arriving in Riga airport. Some search engines for inspiration (we usually book via the airline’s web):If flying from Brussels or area:
- AirBaltic is the only local airline, but it might get pricey, therefore booking in advance is advisable.
- Lufthansa sometimes might be cheaper than airBaltic, but they have a stop-over in Frankfurt.
- Ryanair is less service minded, but certainly cheaper than any of the above, but it does not depart from the Brussels International airport (go to Brussels Charleroi instead).
- Wizzair is sort of Ryanair but more pink (connection between Eindhoven, NL and Riga, we have never tried it, but some say it might be cheaper than Ryanair)
Getting around in Latvia
From the airport to the city center you can take a taxi (from the two companies there we tend to pick Baltic taxi), it will cost 12-15 EUR for a ride of 10 minutes.Alternatively you can take a bus number 22. You can buy tickets at the driver. The price is 2 EUR and tickets are valid for only one ride.
If you plan to stay longer in Riga, you can by “e-talons” at the “Welcome to Riga” office in the airport’s arrival hall. “E-talons” with 5 rides costs 5.75 EUR. Each passenger needs his/her own e-talons, it is not possible to share one “e-talon” between 2 or more people travelling together.
Getting to the wedding ceremony and to the party
Please consult card “Activities” in the invitation with the departure time and place of the shuttle bus. It will also take guests back to Riga on the 28th of August.Where to stay
If you arrive a couple nights before the wedding date, Riga is certainly worth a visit.We have arranged discounted rates with hotel Radi un draugi. For it to work reservation is to be made by sending an e-mail with the necessary dates and room type (single, double, twin) to reservation[at]draugi.lv and quoting in the reservation the following: "LIGA WEDDING/479784/2016". Ask Liga for more information!
Radi and draugi is our preferred hotel when staying in Riga and we will stay in this hotel until the wedding day.
